“Lucky 7” at the Alternative Hair Show

It was the esteemed pleasure of the HOB Academy Creative Team to once again take part in the Alternative Hair Show, raising funds for the Alternative Hair Charitable Foundation, on Sunday the 6th October at Salon International.
For the first time, the event was held at the Excel Arena as part of Salon International, which allowed the show to be brought to an even wider and more diverse audience of hairdressers from all over the world.
Jake Unger, Head of Education, told us the idea behind the show; “When designing the show and the hair, we wanted to channel a glamorous, fashion-led, LA party scene style into the overall feel… with a slightly more daring edge of high-stakes, big rollers, gangsters and casinos (hence the lucky 7 name). We also introduced influences from 50s and 60s London rockabilly styling.”
Akin Konizi, Creative Director of HOB Academy, said “We are always grateful for the opportunity to support Tony Rizzo and this outstanding cause and we have enjoyed being involved for the last couple of years. The new venue was fantastic and our Lucky 7 show got a great response from the crowd.”
Founded by Tony Rizzo in 1983 as a fight against Leukaemia when his and his wife’s first baby sadly passed away, the Alternative Hair Charitable Foundation brings an international community of hairdressers, colourists and stylists to create a unanimous force for raising awareness and funding.
This year the event raised £163,650, adding to the incredible total of £12.5 million being raised over the years.
