HOB Apprenticeship
PROGRAMME

The HOB Salons Hairdressing Apprenticeship is open to anyone aged 16 and over who is ready to embark on an exciting and rewarding career in hairdressing.

What Does the Apprenticeship Involve?
Our apprentice programme offers a dynamic mix of hands-on experience and dedicated training. You’ll work in a HOB Salons four days a week, including at least one evening session perfecting your skills on live models. Additionally, you’ll attend one of our training centres across London, Hertfordshire or Essex one day a week, where you’ll cover both theoretical and practical elements of the course.

What Qualification Will I Achieve?
You’ll graduate with a Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals, the essential industry qualification to kickstart your career.

How Long Does It Take to Qualify?
The apprenticeship typically takes up to two years. This includes 18-21 months on the course, followed by three months preparing for your External End Point Assessment — the final test to complete your qualification.

Do I Need Any Experience or Qualifications?
No prior hairdressing experience is needed! The programme is designed to teach you everything from the basics onward. While having a GCSE in English and Maths (grade D/3 or above) is ideal, it’s not mandatory. If you don’t have these qualifications, you’ll need to undertake additional Maths and English training as part of the apprenticeship.

Where Will I Be Working?
With 16 HOB Salons located across London, Essex, Hertfordshire, and Buckinghamshire, we’ll work with you to select the salon that’s most convenient for your location and travel options, based on our current vacancies.

How Much Will I Earn?
You’ll receive the National Apprenticeship Wage, set by the government. This includes pay for both your training hours and the time you spend working in the salon.

What Career Opportunities Are Available After the Apprenticeship?
After completing your Level 2 Diploma, you’ll be fully qualified to work as a hairdresser in any salon. At HOB Salons, we offer top-performing apprentices the chance to progress onto our 6-Month Graduate Programme, which prepares you for a role as a stylist or colour technician in one of our HOB salons.

Joining HOB Salons opens the door to incredible opportunities. Many of our Stylists, Colourists, Salon Managers, Franchisees, and Educators began their journey as 16-year-old apprentices. Our education and creative team also travels internationally, representing HOB on a global stage. This isn’t just a job—it’s the start of an exciting, long-term career in hairdressing at HOB.

How Do I Apply?
Simply email us at careers@hobsalons.com with your details to let us know you’d like to apply. We’ll arrange an interview and a trial day at one of our salons.

We can’t wait to help you start your journey in the world of hairdressing!
